Birthday Bash ending with a double feature of Journey to Self

I have had a BLAST celebrating Journey to Self’s one year birthday with all of my guest and listeners this month and we are ending the party with a FANTASTIC double feature of JTS this week.

At the 10am pst / 11am mnt / 12pm cst / 1pm est show: Dr. Deitra C. Payne, founder of Women & HOPE

Dr. Payne has more than 15 years of corporate business experience and has worked for numerous government contractors in the areas of operations, accounting and finance. She has managed multimillion dollar contracts, developed corporate budgets and developed financial reporting systems to streamline work processes.

In 2006, Dr. Payne realized her dream of becoming an entrepreneur when she founded C. Payne Consulting & Training (CPCT), LLC. Dr. Payne has always been passionate about helping others, and CPCT is a professional services business specializing in management consulting, training and coaching for businesses and individuals designed to help its clients become successful. Business services include diversity and sensitivity training, team building, conflict resolution and leadership coaching. Individual services include career transitioning and life and success coaching. She also conducts empowerment workshops and seminars that inspire, uplift and motivate individuals to live their best life.

In keeping with her passion for helping others, Dr. Payne is the founder of Women & HOPE, a global community and empowerment magazine for women. Women & HOPE (Helping Others Propel to Excellence) is all about women coming together from all over the world to share their stories and resources to help one another in achieving goals so that each and every woman is successful and can live her best life.

At 5pm pst / 6pm mnt / 7pm cst / 8pm est there will be a special evening Journey to Self with my good friend Dr. Sally Witt.

Dr. Sally Witt is a Breakthrough Coach and Hypnotherapist. She has a Ph.D. in Spiritual Counseling, and has a unique background in traditional psychology as well as intense alternative and metaphysical training. She not only provides individuals and families with coaching and individual therapeutic sessions, but she provides support groups, corporate consulting, trainings and demonstrations on a wide variety of topics.

Dr. Witt is also known worldwide for her intuitive and energy healing gifts. She has been a frequent guest on national television and radio programs to talk about her work. She is the author of “Your Mind Holds the Key to Health, Happiness, and Prosperity”. She offers a variety of services from social networking coaching to her newly launched stop smoking program.

It has been my pleasure to work with Dr. Sally on several different projects, the latest was recording instructional videos for her coaching certification programs. It is always inspiring to hear her insights and life philosophies.

Journey to Self: Embracing Your Inner Queen

We are daughters, girlfriends, wives, mothers, bosses, employees, students, teachers…It’s always who we are in relation to what we do or who we are connected to. It’s never just about who we are. As always it was so empowering to talk to Mama Donna! Today, we discussed how we as woman can embrace our inner Queen by honoring and celebrating the unique individuals that we are. Making time to get to know the person that you are will bring in a new element of happiness into your life, no matter what stage of life you are in.

We also discussed the resistance that women have building a loving relationship with themselves and honoring who they are by taking care of themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is important that we celebrate who we are daily not only will it make us happier in every role that we take on in our lives, but it will pass on an example of self-care to our children. An example that many of us never had in our lives which “programmed” us to repeat the same pattern as our mothers did of self neglect and self-sacrifice.

Perseverance with Scott Suprina on Journey to Self

I remember hearing stories from friends about people they new that quit school with only a year left to go, this use to boggle my mind. One day last May I was on my way to school it had been one of those days that was just one challenge after another and needless to say I was stressed. It was the end of the semester which meant projects were due and finals were just around the corner. I felt overwhelmed and I thought about how easy my life would be if I didn’t have school on top of everything else. Then like a ton of bricks it hit me, it is moments like the one I was having that made people quit school so close to finishing their degree.

It’s easy to give in, it can be tempting to trick yourself into thinking that giving up a dream is what is best for you or your family. I knew that later down the road not finishing school would not only leave me unfulfilled, but it would make it challenging to secure a good financial future for my family as well. Giving up will never help you live the life you want, instead it creates the life you settle for.

This week on Journey to Self my guest is Scott Suprina and we will be talking about perseverance and the importance of never giving up. Scott is the creator and president of Dreamseats, but like many others his journey to a successful business did not come without some bumps in the road, including serveral failed attempts at business.

August 7th Journey to Self: Encouraging Creativity and Imagination

Through danger lurks around every corner, Jamie is up for the adventure, but is set to discover more about herself and her past than she may be able to handle…

I thought that this was a fascinating show about my favorite topics imagination and creativity. Not only did Mollie and I talk about the different ways to encourage imagination and creativity in our kids, but Mollie also shared some great information on the writing process for aspiring writers of all ages.

Find an idea. Use “What if” and “Let’s Pretend” statements to get you started.
Capture your ideas, use an idea book for story or book ideas that you get. Even if you don’t do anything with them right away at least you will still have them.
Outline your story or book, develop character, and identify the conflict and resolution. You have to set up rules for the world that you create.
Write your book or story filling in your outline.
Finish book, edit, re-edit and publish.

I want to thank Mollie for making time for Journey to Self today. It was a great show with lots of information and stories about keeping imagination and creativity alive in our lives.

Encouraging the Creativity and Imagination of our Youth

What would our world be like without creativity and imagination? How would be find a way to balance between the sometime harshness of reality with the enjoyment of being whisked away into a different world where limits seem to melt away as the impossible is magically possible?

Where would we be without those creative thinkers? The true visionaries in history are men and women that thought “outside” the box and dared to go against convention to bring about a new light on an old problem.

As a mother I feel that one of the greatest gifts I can give to my son is to foster his imagination and help his creativity grow. Last week we talked about ways to help our children find their inner voice, become a cheerleader for themselves and others using the Yeah! Yeah! Out Loud tools.

This week we are talking about how we can encourage creativity and imagination in our youth. I am joined this week by a very talented writer, Mollie Kehl Penrod, she is the author of “The Secret of Wellington’s Map” an young adult action adventure that was published in June 2008.

July 31st Journey to Self: Yeah! Yeah! Out Loud

I felt very privileged to have Kathy Carpenter the creator of Yeah! Yeah! Out Loud® (YYOL®) on Journey to Self today even with a few technical hiccups here and there. YYOL® provides tools to assist children in building a healthy sense of self and teaches how to to find their inner cheer leader. My son and I had such fun going through the Yeah! Yeah! Out Loud book and the puppets of the main characters Hur-Ray© (the sun) and Kiddazy® (a flower).

This is the perfect gift to give our children, nothing else in their lives is going will impact them as deeply as learning how to believe in and love themselves.
