From 1994-2004, Steve was a freelance music reviewer for New Age RetailerSedona Journal of Emergence. He has written and published over 1200 reviews, hundreds of which are still available online. Steve has also had articles published in PC World and Electronic Design magazines. and then the

For the past 12 years, Steve has lived in the wild mountains of Mendocino County in Northern California with his beloved wife JoAnn. They thrive in an off-the-grid environment, producing most of their electricity from solar panels, with hydro in the winter. Drunk with Wonder was written, edited and designed with almost no help from fossil fuels.

Drunk with Wonder: Awakening to the God Within is the culmination of years of research and decades of personal experience. It’s been hailed as where “Conversations with God meets What the Bleep Do We Know?”

May 28th Journey to Self: Change - The other dirty word?

——-———–Show Information——————-

What comes to mind when you hear the word change? Are you fearful? Excited? Does you blood run cold or do you hear yourself saying, “I like things just the way they are.”? Is “change”, the other dirty word?

Most of us find change hard. Not necessarily because we do not want to change but because it is sailing into the unknown. Who knows what is going to be around the next bend in the road? We are most likely to rail against changes that are going to have an adverse effect on our lives.

The week on the show we will be talking about change.  In our changing world it is necessary for us to change and adapt - so why is it so hard for us to actually take the steps to change? This week my guest Paula Klee Parish will join me to talk about change in our lives, our world, and our society.

Paula is a wife, mother, grandmother, and educator is a New York State Certified Senior Instructor and facilitator for “The Training Source” Career Development Programs and Services Division, and the “Continuing Occupational Education” Business Division of Western Suffolk Board Of Cooperative Educational Services (WSBOCES). Paula is a keynote speaker and presenter for organizations and universities, and a Career Transition and Professional Development Coach. Ms. Parish’s work reflects her extensive national and international travels and studies in the behavioral sciences.

For more than 30 years, Paula has held support through executive level positions in industry, namely Director of Service/Quality, General Manager, and Vice President of Operations for small to multi-billion dollar corporations in the fields of Banking, Manufacturing, Distribution, and Service on Long Island. She formally transitioned into the field of training in 1994, and in 1996 founded Performance Solutions, Inc.

May 21st Journey to Self: The Domestic Goddess

——-———–Show Information——————-

I am SO excited this week to have my friend for over 20 years, The Domestic Goddess - Mandy Sly!!

Mandy is a fantastic woman with a myriad of experiences that has made her the unique person that she is today.   As a survivor of a bad marriage to an alcoholic husband who drank away most of their money she has learned how to make her dollars stretch to provide for her family in the best possible way.

Mandy has been a single mother for 12 of the 14 years of her son’s life, receiving very little if any support from her ex-husband, leaving her solely responsible for their son.  During this period Mandy had to develop strategies that would enable her to do a lot with very little resources as well as strive to make the best out of the worst situation.  Currently is on a new path in parenthood  - parenting to a teenager.

By keeping herself well informed she has found practical solutions to do almost anything from decorating your house to fixing healthy and nutritious meals inexpensively. She educates herself on the latest news and is dedicated to the “Go Green” movement.

Mandy embodies the term Domestic Goddess as she has found a way to take care of her home, her son, while maintaining her own identity and allowing for her own personal growth. It has been my pleasure to see one of my oldest friends blossom into such a strong independent women.  She has recently finished her first year of college in the Criminal Justice/Probation and Parole program after being out of school for almost 16 years, a courageous step in taking control in designing her life!

Mandy will be co-hosting a new radio show “Mom’s Coffee Break” with myself and Direct Sales expert Jody Maley, launching in June 2009.  In addition, she is officially launching her site The Domestic Goddess on Thursday May 21st and invites you to come and visit her site for some great information!

May 7th Journey to Self: Be a Victorious Woman!

——-———–Show Information——————-

Journey to Self has a fantastic show for this week!  We will be talking about being a victorious woman and joining me this week is Annmarie Kelly.

Annmarie is an author, speaker, trainer and victory strategist. She is the founder and principal of SkillBuilder Systems. Founded in 1994, the consulting company specializes in interpersonal communications and personal performance improvement.

In her Victorious Woman Workshops, she facilitates a process through which women learn how to choose and develop more satisfying and authentic lifestyles, beginning with awareness and progressing through actions that result in a victorious outcome.

Kelly is the author of Victorious Woman! Shaping Life’s Challenges into Personal Victories. She is also the author of numerous articles on a variety of topics such as emotional intelligence, goal achievement, behavior-focused performance improvement and women and life balance. Her articles have appeared in numerous publications, including: Performance in Practice, Dietary Manager, Smart Business Now, Massage Magazine, Entrepreneurial Edge and The Greater Philadelphia Resource.

Kelly is an active member of the National Speakers Association (NSA), the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), and the Brandywine Valley Alliance of Coaches. She is a frequent presenter at local and national women’s conferences including the Delaware Women’s Conference, ASTD Leadership Conference, Clemson University’s Professional Development for Women Conferences, Wilmington Women in Business, and Berks County’s Paving the Way Conference.

In addition to her professional credits, Kelly claims her own victories over early familial dysfunctions that included alcoholism and sibling abuse, teenage overweight that resulted in self-image issues and paralyzing shyness, as well as later financial devastation and emotional loss. Her decision to write Victorious Woman! resulted from an unusual – and now resolved – health problem that had her and her doctors confused. The traumatic episode pushed Kelly to question her own strength and ability to face a potentially life-threatening disease.

Kelly currently lives in Chester County, Pennsylvania, with her spouse, Joseph Eagle. She finds her greatest joys come from ballroom dancing and traveling with Joseph (especially to Downeast Maine), an eclectic choice of music, reading mystery novels, soaking in the beauty of nature and being in the company of her good friends.

A Victorious Woman defines herself.” ~ Annmarie Kelly

This was truly a “Victorious” show!!  Annmarie and I talked about challenges that hold women back from being and thinking victoriously.  We talked about her book Victorious Woman! and touched upon the different “lifestyles” that women lead.

One of the important topics was that women need to treat themselves the way they want others to treat them.  This includes engaging in good self-care and making time for what is important.  Frequently, women deny their own dreams using their family life as an excuse - when you start making your dreams a priority your family will follow your lead!!

This show was filled with such great insights!  A must listen to for any woman!!

April 30th JTS: Self-Awareness through Humor

——-———–Show Information——————-

Journey to Self this week is about the importance of knowing yourself.  Joining me to discuss this topic is Sara Barron.

Sara is the author of the book “People are Unappealing” where she combines the theme of knowing who you are with humor.

Her work has also appeared on Showtime’s “This American Life”, The Today Show, NPR’s Weekend Edition and at the HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, Colorado. Her essays have also appeared in the anthologies Mortified: The Big Book of Angst, Have I Got A Guy For You, and Rock and Roll Cage-Match.  Sara hosts The Moth: Stories Told (www.themoth.org) and teaches humor writing at Gotham Writer’s Workshop. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.

These days, the market is pretty well saturated when it comes to memoir. Which means it has to be good; it has to be different. Sara Barron’s essays about her childhood, her parents, her life in acting school in Manhattan and her fellow actors are, dare we say it, as funny as David Sedaris’. . . . Barron swats these quirks around like a cat with a big, juicy catnip toy. When you aren’t squirming, you’re laughing out loud.”
